Motorcycle sales in Indonesia rebounded in August 2021. According to a report from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) on August 2021 motorcycle sales data, domestic sales reached 470,065 units, while exports totaled 73,521 units.
This achievement was the third highest in 2021, with records set in March and April 2021 at 521,424 units and 472,889 units respectively. Domestic motorcycle sales in July reached 376,640 units. This signifies a 24.80% increase in domestic sales in August 2021. Meanwhile, export volume increased by 11.21% in August compared to July 2021 sales of 66,105 units.
In total, national motorcycle sales from January to August 2021 reached 3,296,793 units. Scooter-type motorcycles contributed 87.28% of total national motorcycle sales, exceeding sales of other types. Underbone motorcycles contributed only 6.56%, and sport motorcycles 6.16%.
A similar trend occurred in export distribution. Of the total sales during the same period, 541,749 units, 70.85% of total motorcycle distribution was scooter-type, followed by sport motorcycles at 16.66%, and underbone motorcycles at 12.48%.
