Indonesia China High-Speed Rail (KCIC) aims to reach 30,000 daily passengers for the Whoosh High-Speed Train.

To achieve this target, KCIC is implementing a 50% discount on Whoosh High-Speed Train tickets from October 18th to November 30th, 2023.

With the 50% discount, the ticket price for the Halim-Padalarang route (and vice versa) will be Rp150,000, down from the original price of Rp300,000 per passenger.

KCIC President Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi explained that this promotion aims to encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transportation for Jakarta-Bandung travel.

According to Dwiyana, approximately 256,000 private vehicles travel the Jakarta-Bandung route daily. KCIC targets to attract around 11% of these users to the Whoosh High-Speed Train.

"Attracting 11% of that traffic is already significant," said Dwiyana, as reported by Katadata.co.id on Tuesday (17/10/2023).

"At the same time, we are supporting the government's efforts to reduce traffic congestion and pollution," she continued.

According to KCIC data, approximately 8,000 tickets for the Jakarta-Bandung Whoosh High-Speed Train have been sold for the October 18th-23rd, 2023 period. Paid ticket sales for Whoosh began last weekend, Saturday (14/10/2023).

KCIC is also exploring optimal ticket marketing strategies. One strategy currently employed is sales through mobile banking applications of state-owned banks.

Currently, Whoosh High-Speed Train tickets can be purchased through the KCIC's Whoosh application, Akses KAI, Livin' by Mandiri, BNI Mobile Banking, and BRImo.

Dwiyana believes this strategy is crucial, as the majority of the public is expected to no longer purchase tickets from counters or vending machines.
