A report from Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the number of domestic airline passengers reached 2.92 million in October 2021. This figure is up 48.45% compared to the previous month, which saw 1.97 million passengers.
This increase in domestic air passengers is the second highest this year. The highest number of domestic air passengers this year was recorded at 3.52 million in June 2021.
Furthermore, the number of domestic airline passengers in October 2021 increased by 31.22% compared to the same period the previous year, which reached 2.2 million passengers. The increase in domestic air passengers in October 2021 occurred across all airports. The highest number of passengers originated from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, at 824,300. This figure is up 47.04% from September 2021.
At Juanda Airport in Surabaya, the number of domestic airline passengers increased by 39.12% from September 2021, reaching 231,500 in October 2021. Meanwhile, domestic air passengers from Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar increased by 97.45% to 224,900.
Domestic air passengers at Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar increased by 41.84% to 159,000. The number of domestic air passengers at Kualanamu Airport in Medan increased by 44% to 116,500. Meanwhile, domestic air passengers at other airports increased by 46.15% to 1.36 million.
