Indonesia's automotive production from January to June 2017 reached 597,522 units. Of this amount, 113,269 units were exported overseas. According to Gaikindo data, the most exported vehicle was the Fortuner, reaching 32,724 units (29 percent) of the total. This Toyota automotive manufacturer's car model was most exported to the Philippines with 17,112 units and Vietnam with 7,880 units.
Second most exported was the Avanza with 22,178 units (20 percent), and third was the Vios with 14,482 units (13 percent) of the total exports. Meanwhile, by brand, Toyota still dominated the Indonesian automotive export market share with 57,801 units, or more than 51 percent of the total national automotive exports.
From August 10-20, 2017, the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2017 took place at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD Serpong, South Tangerang. Amidst the sluggish domestic automotive market due to a slowing economy, this event is expected to boost car sales.
