The average monthly ridership of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) has shown improvement after the third wave of Covid-19. In April 2022, the average monthly number of passengers was recorded at 37,864.
This number increased from 30,891 passengers in March 2022. In February 2022, the average monthly MRT ridership plummeted to 19,024 passengers.
Despite the increase, the average monthly MRT ridership is still far below pre-Covid-19 levels. In February 2020, the average monthly ridership reached 88,444 passengers.
The lowest average ridership since the Covid-19 pandemic occurred in May 2020, at 1,405 passengers. The average ridership also reached 4,324 passengers when the Delta variant surged in July 2021.
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is currently working on the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A project, which will connect Bundaran HI to Jakarta Kota Station. Segment 1 (Bundaran HI-Harmoni) is targeted for completion in March 2025, while segment 2 (Harmoni - Kota) is targeted for completion in August 2027.
