PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk predicts that 2.56 million vehicles will leave the Jakarta-Bogor-Tangerang-Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period (H-7 to H+7), or April 25 to May 10, 2022.
This figure represents an 80% increase compared to the same period during Eid al-Fitr 2021. Jasa Marga predicts that 2.39 million vehicles will enter the Jabodetabek area during the same period, a 69.7% increase from Eid al-Fitr 2021.
Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Dwimawan Heru, stated that the government's easing of restrictions on homecoming travel amid the pandemic will revitalize long-distance road trips, particularly on toll roads, which haven't been seen in the past two years of the pandemic.
"Not only compared to Eid al-Fitr 2021, but the increase in traffic at the four main toll gates during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr period is also quite significant when compared to normal traffic in November 2021," said Heru in a statement on Saturday (23/4/2022).
"Jasa Marga recorded an increase of up to 11.8% for vehicles leaving Jabodetabek and 4.5% for vehicles entering Jabodetabek during the H-7 to H+7 period," he added.
Heru further added that Jasa Marga also recorded a significant increase in traffic in the first quarter of 2022. The average daily traffic (ADT) on Jasa Marga Group toll roads throughout Indonesia in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 12.8% compared to the first quarter of 2021.
Compared to the pre-pandemic period (first quarter of 2019), the 2022 ADT was only -0.45%, very close to normal conditions.
