The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) report shows that domestic wholesale car sales reached 88,876 units in August 2023, a 10.5% increase month-on-month (MoM).
Throughout August 2023, Japanese car manufacturers dominated the list of best-selling cars based on domestic wholesale sales. Eight out of the top ten best-selling car brands in Indonesia were from Japan.
Toyota topped the list of best-selling car brands in August 2023 with sales of 30,149 units, representing 33.92% of total wholesale car sales that month.
Daihatsu came in second with 17,481 wholesale units. This was followed by Honda with 11,778 wholesale units and Mitsubishi Motors with 7,100 units.
South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai ranked sixth with 3,337 wholesale units last month.
Meanwhile, Wuling ranked tenth among the best-selling cars domestically in August 2023. Wholesale sales of the Chinese manufacturer reached 1,095 units last month.
