A Statista report shows that the Tesla Model 3 was the best-selling electric car globally throughout 2020. A total of 365,000 units of this electric car model were sold worldwide last year.
The Tesla Model 3 was first introduced in 2016. Since its launch, this car by Elon Musk has been a best-seller in the market.
Second place was occupied by the Wuling HongGuang Mini EV, with 119,000 units sold throughout 2020.
Next, the Renault Zoe electric car sold 100,000 units last year. The Tesla Model Y followed with a total of 80,000 units sold.
Then, 65,000 units of the Hyundai Kona Electric were sold throughout last year. The Volkswagen ID.3 and Nissan Leaf followed, selling 57,000 and 56,000 units respectively.
Next, the Audi e-Tron and SAIC Baojun E-Series each sold 48,000 units in 2020. Meanwhile, 47,000 units of the Great Wall ORA R1/Black Cat were sold during the same period.
The increasing popularity of electric cars among global consumers is attributed to their environmentally friendly nature and lack of pollution. Furthermore, the majority of electric cars already on the market are increasingly sophisticated, boasting various features and design models.
