Indonesia's Export Value Increased by 9.52% in June 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia's exports reached US$18.55 billion, or Rp267 trillion (using an exchange rate of Rp14,400/US$), in June 2021. This figure represents a 9.52% increase compared to the previous month's US$16.9 billion and a 54.46% increase compared to June 2020's US$12.01 billion.

The month-on-month increase in exports was due to an 8.45% rise in non-oil and gas exports, from US$15.96 billion to US$17.23 billion. Meanwhile, oil and gas exports increased by 27.23%, from US$968.4 million to US$1.23 billion.

Meanwhile, imports were recorded at US$17.23 billion in June 2021, a 21.03% increase compared to the previous month's US$14.23 billion. This figure also represents a 60.12% increase compared to June 2020's US$10.76 billion.

The month-on-month increase in imports was due to an 11.44% rise in oil and gas imports, from US$2.06 billion to US$2.29 billion. Non-oil and gas imports also increased by 22.66%, from US$12.17 billion to US$14.93 billion.

Consequently, Indonesia's trade balance in June 2021 was recorded at US$1.31 billion, a 51.21% decrease from the previous month's US$2.4 billion.

Cumulatively, Indonesia's export value reached US$102.87 billion from January to June 2021. This represents a 34.78% increase compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, imports totaled US$91.01 billion during the first six months of the year, a 28.36% increase compared to the first half of 2020.

As a result, Indonesia's trade balance reached US$11.86 billion from January to June 2021, an increase of 118% compared to January-June 2020.
