Jakarta's Export Value Reaches US$968.2 Million in October 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the value of exports from Jakarta reached US$968.2 million in October 2021. This figure represents a 0.43% increase compared to the previous month's US$964 million.

Compared to the same period last year, Jakarta's export value increased by 0.77%. In October 2020, Jakarta's export value was recorded at US$960.8 million.

The increase in Jakarta's exports in October 2021 occurred across several commodities. Exports of fish, crustaceans, and mollusks showed the highest increase, reaching 18.2%, rising from US$80.4 million in September 2021 to US$95 million in October 2021.

October 2021 also saw an increase in exports of machinery and mechanical appliances and parts, up 4.27% month-on-month. Other commodities showing increases compared to the previous month include various chemical products (up 4.5%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts (up 3.9%), and soap and cleaning preparations (up 3.4%).

Conversely, several other major commodities experienced a decrease in export value in October 2021. Jewelry and precious stones fell by 8.9% month-on-month, vehicles and parts by 4.9%, animal and vegetable fats and oils by 3.9%, copper and its products by 3.7%, and knitted clothing and accessories by 3.6%.

China was the main export destination for Jakarta in October 2021, with a value of US$151.7 million, or 15.7% of the total. This was followed by Singapore with exports valued at US$92.8 million (9.6%), the United States at US$85.9 million (8.9%), and the Philippines at US$84.8 million (8.8%).
