East Java Imports Reach US$2.84 Billion in November 2021

Imports to East Java saw a renewed increase in November 2021. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that imports to East Java reached US$ 2.84 billion in November 2021.

This figure represents a 12.89% increase from the previous month's US$ 2.52 billion. This was driven by increases in both the oil and gas and non-oil and gas import sectors in East Java. The value of oil and gas imports to East Java in November 2021 increased by 41.47%, from US$ 569.76 million to US$ 806.02 million.

Furthermore, the value of non-oil and gas imports in November 2021 increased by 4.54% compared to the previous month. In November 2021, the value of East Java's non-oil and gas imports was US$ 2.04 billion, compared to US$ 1.95 billion in October 2021.

By commodity group, iron and steel were the main import commodity for East Java, with a transaction value of US$ 167.02 million. However, this figure decreased by 3.86% from the previous month's US$ 173.72 million.

The iron and steel group accounted for 8.2% of the total non-oil and gas imports to East Java last month. This commodity group was primarily imported from India, amounting to US$ 36.68 million.

The second-ranking commodity group was machinery and mechanical appliances, with imports valued at US$ 149.23 million (7.33%). This commodity group mainly originated from China, with imports totaling US$ 72.63 million during November 2021.

The third-ranking imported commodity to East Java was cereals, contributing US$ 134.00 million (6.58%) to the import value. This commodity group mainly originated from Ukraine, with imports totaling US$ 52.52 million.

China was the largest non-oil and gas importer to East Java in November 2021, with a value of US$ 643.29 million. This was followed by the European Union and the United States, with values of US$ 110.4 million and US$ 104.14 million, respectively.
