July 2016 Export Value Down 27 Percent

Indonesia's export value in July 2016 contracted by 27 percent to US$9.51 billion from the previous month. Compared to July 2015, it also fell by 17.02 percent. The shorter working days due to the Idul Fitri holiday and the decline in oil and gas volume caused a significant drop in national exports at the beginning of the second half of 2016. The oil and gas sector experienced a 15.89 percent decrease to US$0.99 billion, and similarly, non-oil and gas exports fell by 27.75 percent to US$8.51 billion.

Cumulatively, the export value (January-July) in 2016 also decreased by 12.02 percent to US$79.08 billion compared to the same period in 2015. The oil and gas sector saw a 34.32 percent decline to US$7.49 billion, while non-oil and gas exports fell by 8.78 percent to US$71.59 billion.
