The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia's exports in August 2022 reached US$27.91 billion, a 9.17 percent increase compared to July 2022. Compared to August 2021, the export value increased by 30.15 percent.
Cumulatively, Indonesia's export value from January to August 2022 reached US$194.60 billion, a 35.42 percent increase compared to the same period in 2021. BPS Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics, Setianto, stated that the increase in export value in August 2022 was supported by both non-oil and gas and oil and gas exports.
Non-oil and gas exports reached US$183.73 billion, an increase of 35.24 percent. The largest increase in non-oil and gas exports in August 2022 compared to July 2022 occurred in animal and vegetable fats and oils, amounting to US$904.7 million (25.40 percent), while the largest decrease occurred in mineral fuels, amounting to US$368.5 million (6.68 percent).
By sector, non-oil and gas exports from the manufacturing industry from January to August 2022 increased by 24.03 percent compared to the same period in 2021. Similarly, exports of agricultural, forestry, and fisheries products increased by 17.14 percent, and mining and other exports increased by 97.40 percent.
The largest non-oil and gas exports in August 2022 were to China, at US$6.16 billion, followed by the United States at US$2.59 billion and India at US$2.47 billion, with these three countries contributing 42.84 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$4.77 billion and US$2.30 billion, respectively.
Based on the province of origin, the largest Indonesian exports from January to August 2022 originated from West Java, with a value of US$26.02 billion (13.37 percent), followed by East Kalimantan at US$23.41 billion (12.03 percent) and East Java at US$16.96 billion (8.71 percent).
