The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's imports from Australia reached US$ 802.99 million in November 2021. Therefore, cumulatively from January to November 2021, Indonesia's imports from this trading partner reached US$ 8.31 billion or Rp 119.14 trillion (using an exchange rate of Rp 14,340 per US$).
Wheat and meslin (Harmonized System/HS 041) were the largest import category from Australia, reaching US$ 1.4 billion from January to November 2021. This accounted for 16.81% of the total import value.
Coal, not agglomerated (HS 321), was the second largest import category, reaching US$ 1.32 billion (15.87%). Next, iron ore and concentrates (HS 281) were in third place with imports valued at US$ 911.4 million.
Imports of crude petroleum (HS 333) from Australia during January-November of last year reached US$ 606.28 million (7.3%), while imports of sugar, molasses and honey (HS 061) amounted to US$ 521.92 million (6.28%). Other imports reached US$ 3.55 billion (42.77%).
From January to November 2021, Indonesia's trade balance with Australia showed a deficit of US$ 5.33 billion. Indonesia's exports to Australia were only US$ 2.98 billion, while imports from this trading partner reached US$ 8.3 billion.
