Indonesia's Trade Performance as of August 2025, Online Subsector Skyrockets 65%

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported that Indonesia's trade sector performance reached IDR 333.8 trillion throughout January-August 2025.

This value grew by 0.3% from IDR 332.7 trillion in the same period last year (year-on-year/yoy).

Broken down monthly, the realization in August 2025 reached IDR 42 trillion. The average monthly trade value since the beginning of this year touched IDR 41.7 trillion.

Anggito Abimanyu, who was still serving as Deputy Minister of Finance during the press conference, stated that the trade sector's revenue performance from January-August 2025 was supported by various sub-sectors, predominantly online trade, other wholesale trade, wholesale trade of household goods, and wholesale trade of agricultural products.

The Deputy Minister, who now chairs the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), explained that online trade realization reached IDR 17.4 trillion throughout January-August 2025, surging by 65% (yoy) from IDR 10.5 trillion.

"How high the growth [of online trade] is, even though its size is still relatively small," said Anggito during the APBN KiTa press conference on Monday (22/9/2025).
