The United States (US) is one of Indonesia's main import suppliers.
According to the latest report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in 2024 Indonesia imported US$12.02 billion worth of goods from the US.
This figure represents 5.11% of the total national import value, making the US the 4th largest source of imports.
Here is a list of the top 10 countries of origin for Indonesia's imports in 2024, ordered by value:
1. China: US$73.85 billion
2. Singapore: US$21.53 billion
3. Japan: US$14.98 billion
4. US: US$12.02 billion
5. Malaysia: US$10.92 billion
6. Australia: US$10.45 billion
7. Thailand: US$9.73 billion
8. South Korea: US$9.36 billion
9. Vietnam: US$6.48 billion
10. India: US$5.69 billion
Imports from the US have the potential to increase, as starting this year, US products entering Indonesia will be tariff-free, while Indonesian products exported to the US are subject to a 19% tariff.
This is the result of negotiations between the Indonesian government and US President Donald Trump, who previously threatened to impose a 32% tariff on Indonesian products.
"They [Indonesia] are going to pay 19% and we are going to pay nothing. We will have full access into Indonesia, and we have a couple of those deals that are going to be announced," Trump said, as reported by Reuters on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
