Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reports show that aluminum exports reached 65,750 tons in March 2025. Accumulated exports from January to March 2025 totaled 155,840 tons.
The value of exports in March 2025 reached US$189.55 million. Accumulated exports from January to March 2025 reached US$354.24 million.
At least 10 countries are major markets for Indonesian aluminum. The United States (US) is among them, with shipments of 1,740 tons in March 2025. Accumulated exports from January to March 2025 reached 4,910 tons.
The value of these exports was US$7.1 million in March 2025, and US$20.08 million accumulated from January to March 2025. This volume and value place the US as the fifth largest destination for Indonesian aluminum exports.
Indonesian aluminum exports to the US will be impacted by additional tariffs. According to Katadata, US President Donald J. Trump plans to increase tariffs on steel and aluminum from 25% to 50% the following week, Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Trump announced this plan after announcing a US$14.9 billion business agreement between Nippon Steel Corporation and US Steel. He stated that the business agreement and tariff increase would protect jobs in the US steel industry.
"We will impose an additional 25% tariff. We will increase the tariff from 25% to 50% for steel entering the United States. This will better protect the steel industry in the United States," Trump said, as reported by Reuters on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Turkey ranked first with a volume of 24,990 tons in March 2025, and 30,280 tons from January to March 2025.
The value of aluminum exports to Turkey reached US$69.87 million in March 2025, and US$84.43 million from January to March 2025.

- China: 12,854 tons
- Vietnam: 5,181 tons

- Australia: 689 tons
- Malaysia: 570 tons
- Others: 2,481 tons.
