These Are the Most Imported Car Brands in Indonesia in 2024

According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), Indonesia imported 97,010 cars in 2024. This volume represents a 9.1% increase compared to 2023, when 88,915 units were imported.

This data refers to completely built-up (CBU) car imports, or fully assembled vehicles from their country of origin.

In 2024, Toyota was the largest exporter of cars to Indonesia, with a volume of 33,594 units, accounting for 34.6% of total national car imports.

The Chinese manufacturer, BYD, ranked second with 16,767 units shipped, equivalent to 17.3% of national car imports. It should be noted that BYD only entered the Indonesian market in June 2024.

4. Mitsubishi Motors: 5,822 units
5. Mazda: 4,377 units
6. Honda: 4,263 units
7. Lexus: 2,460 units
8. Hyundai: 1,906 units
9. BMW: 1,847 units
10. Citroen: 1,324 units

Gaikindo also noted that several manufacturers did not ship any cars to Indonesia throughout 2024, namely Ora, Neta, DFSK, Jeep, and Tata.
