2024 Japanese MotoGP Provisional Standings: Bagnaia Closes in on Jorge Martin

Francesco Bagnaia won the 2024 MotoGP at the Motegi Circuit, Japan, on Sunday (October 6, 2024). Starting from second position, the Ducati rider overtook Pedro Acosta, the pole position holder.

Bagnaia completed the 24 laps in 42 minutes and 9.790 seconds. Jorge Martin finished second, 1.189 seconds behind, and Marc Marquez completed the podium in third place.

This was Bagnaia's eighth victory in the 2024 MotoGP series.

His win in Japan put him second in the 2024 MotoGP standings with 382 points.

He further closed the gap on his closest rival, Jorge Martin, who leads the standings with 392 points. Now, they are only 10 points apart.

Meanwhile, Acosta, who led the race in Japan, failed to finish due to a crash on lap 12.

The next 2024 MotoGP race will be held at the Phillip Island Circuit, Australia, on October 18-20, 2024.
