National Iron and Steel Exports Soar 90.26% in 2021, China the Largest Destination

Iron and steel are among the most widely traded commodities globally. These two commodities emerged as alternatives to standard traditional iron due to their higher flexibility and durability.

According to a report by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the value of Indonesia's iron and steel exports from January to December 2021 reached US$ 21.47 billion, or approximately Rp 307.04 trillion.

This figure surged by 90.26% compared to sales in the same period the previous year, which amounted to US$ 11.28 billion, or approximately Rp 161.3 trillion.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's iron and steel exports reached 14.08 billion kg. This volume increased by 52.46% compared to exports in the same period of 2020, which totaled 9.24 billion kg.

Volume: 457,175,582 kg
Value: US$ 1,019,558,794

Several regions in Indonesia are known as centers for iron and steel production, including Tanah Datar (West Sumatra), Cipatujuh (West Java), Kotabaru (South Kalimantan), and Bone Regency (South Sulawesi).
