Saudi Arabia is one of Indonesia's largest export markets for plywood. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (Badan Pusat Statistik) recorded that Indonesian plywood exports to Saudi Arabia reached 197,900 tons in 2015, a 19.6 percent increase from 165,500 tons the previous year. This figure places Saudi Arabia as the third largest export market for Indonesian plywood.
In 2015, Indonesia's largest plywood exports were to China, with a volume of 697,400 tons, a 14.9 percent increase from the previous year. Japan was second, with export volumes reaching 546,800 tons, a decrease of 15.4 percent from 643,500 tons the previous year.
Throughout 2015, the volume of Indonesian plywood exports totaled 2.47 million tons, a 5.4 percent increase compared to 2.34 million tons the previous year. The value of plywood exports in 2015 reached US$2.37 billion, a slight increase from US$2.23 billion the previous year. King Salman bin Abdulaziz's visit to Indonesia can be used as an opportunity to increase exports of Indonesian products to Saudi Arabia.
