The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that in June 2018, the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for Non-Oil and Gas General Goods, or the wholesale/agent price index, increased by 0.18% compared to the previous month. The highest increase in the WPI occurred in the Non-Oil and Gas Import Goods group, at 0.40%. The calendar year inflation of the WPI for the Non-Oil and Gas Import Goods group up to June 2018 reached 2.16%, and the year-on-year (YoY) inflation was 2.9%.
This index increase was driven by several commodities that experienced price increases in June 2018, including tomatoes, coal, chicken meat, frozen fish, kretek cigarettes, imported plastics and plastic goods, and export paper/cardboard.
Furthermore, sectorally, the increase in the wholesale trade index also occurred in the agricultural sector (up 0.01%), the mining and quarrying sector (up 0.20%), the industrial sector (up 0.18%), and the non-oil and gas export goods group (up 0.18%).
