Bali Saw Zero Foreign Tourist Arrivals in August 2021

There were no foreign tourist visits (wisman) to Bali in August 2021. This is the second month Bali recorded zero foreign tourist visits due to the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to suppress the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Bali only received 43 foreign tourist visits throughout January-August 2021. This figure decreased by 99.99% compared to the same period the previous year, which amounted to 1,069,199 visits.

The sluggishness of Bali's tourism sector is also reflected in the hotel occupancy rate (TPK) of star-rated hotels. The TPK of star-rated hotels in Bali was recorded at 4.77% in August 2021, down 0.46 points from the previous month, which reached 5.23%.

However, the TPK of star-rated hotels on the Island of Gods increased by 1.09 points compared to the previous year, which was 3.68%. This increase occurred across all classifications of star-rated hotels.

The average length of stay for guests in Bali decreased by 0.52% from 1.92 days in July 2021 to 1.91 days in August 2021. The decrease was contributed by a reduction in the average length of stay for foreign guests by 8.29%, from 2.41 days to 2.21 days.

Meanwhile, the average length of stay for local guests was recorded at 1.88 days in August 2021. This figure increased by 0.53% from the previous month, which reached 1.87 days.
