Young People in Jakarta Most Proficient in ICT in Indonesia

Young adults and adults in Jakarta, DKI have the highest proficiency in using information and communication technology (ICT) nationally. This is evident from a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which recorded an ICT proficiency rate of 88.08% among the population aged 15-59 in Jakarta.

The second highest ICT proficiency among young adults is in the Riau Islands, at 81.73%. Other regions with high national ICT proficiency among young adults include Yogyakarta Special Region (81.36%), East Kalimantan (75.33%), and Bali (72.56%).

Based on gender, males are more skilled in using ICT, with a percentage of 67.88%, while females have an ICT proficiency rate of 60.6%. Meanwhile, urban populations have higher ICT proficiency than rural populations (75.17% versus 49.77%).

In Jakarta, 71.25% of Jakarta residents have used ICT devices such as mobile phones. Meanwhile, 73.46% have accessed the internet at least in the last three months.

ICT device usage among the top 20% income group in Jakarta has reached 94.12%, the middle 40% income group at 86.8%, while the bottom 40% is at 76.51%.
