China's 5G Adoption Rate is Highest Globally

5G networks are fifth-generation cellular networks offering significantly faster internet speeds than 4G. Several developed countries, such as South Korea, the United States, and Norway, have already adopted this technology.

According to a study by GSMA Intelligence, China, North America, and Europe dominated 5G cellular network adoption in 2021 and are projected to continue this dominance in 2025. China's 5G adoption reached 29% in 2021 and is expected to reach 52% by 2025.

North America follows with 13% 5G adoption in 2021, projected to surpass China by 2025, reaching 63%.

Meanwhile, 5G adoption in the Asia-Pacific region was 2% in 2021, increasing to 14% by 2025. Adoption in the Commonwealth of Independent States, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America was only 1% in 2021. By 2025, Latin America's 5G adoption is expected to reach 11%, while Sub-Saharan Africa's will reach 4%.

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), Indonesia's ecosystem is not yet fully ready to adopt 5G technology. This is due to two main factors: frequency spectrum allocation and fiberization.
