Free Shipping Remains a Primary Factor Driving Consumer Preference for E-commerce

Jakpat conducted a survey titled *Indonesia E-Commerce Trend* 2021. The results show that free shipping promotions are the main factor influencing consumers' choice of e-commerce platform. This was supported by 66% of respondents.

Other consumer considerations include lower prices (64%), numerous discounts on goods (59%), easy payment processes (56%), and a variety of payment methods (53%).

In addition to the popularity of the e-commerce platform itself, the survey indicates that product price and free shipping promotions are the primary reasons consumers choose a particular e-commerce platform. Besides price and promotions, ease of payment methods is also a key consideration for consumers.

Digital wallet (e-wallet) payments were the most frequently used by consumers when shopping online (69%) in the past year, followed by cash on delivery (COD) (52%), mobile/internet banking (37%), and payments via minimarkets (28%).

This survey was conducted among 1,054 respondents across 25 provinces in April and June 2021. The majority of respondents were aged 20-29 and resided on the island of Java.
