Here are the Top 10 Largest Data Breaches in the World

Data breaches are not limited to Indonesia; they occur globally, with hackers targeting large corporations for profit.

According to the CSO Online report, the Yahoo data breach in August 2013 was the largest to date, involving approximately 3 billion accounts. Hackers accessed account information such as security questions and answers, and plain text passwords. However, payment card and bank data were reportedly not stolen.

The next largest data breach involved Alibaba in November 2019, affecting 1.1 billion user accounts.

Following this, LinkedIn reported that 700 million user accounts were stolen and sold on the dark web in June 2021.

The Sina Weibo data breach in March 2020 affected 538 million accounts, while a Facebook breach in April 2019 exposed the personal information of 533 million users.
