Top 10 TikTok-Using Countries in the World: Indonesia is Second

TikTok is one of the most popular social media applications in many countries. The app is also quite popular in Indonesia, especially among teenagers.

According to data compiled by Statista, Indonesia is the second largest country in the world in terms of TikTok users. The number of users reached 99.07 million in April 2022, one rank below the United States, which had 136.42 million users.

Other countries with the largest number of TikTok users include Brazil with 73.58 million users, followed by Mexico with 50.52 million, Vietnam with 45.82 million, the Philippines with 40.36 million, Thailand with 38.38 million, Turkey with 28.68 million, and Pakistan with 24.05 million users.

TikTok was founded by Zhang Yiming and launched in September 2016. Zhang Yiming is also the founder of the technology company ByteDance.

Previously, the TikTok application was temporarily banned by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) in July 2018 because its content was deemed uneducational. However, the ban was later lifted, and TikTok has become increasingly popular in Indonesia to this day.
