Instagram Stories Users Outnumber Snapchat

In April 2017, daily Instagram Stories users surpassed those of its similar application, Snapchat. Around 200 million accounts used Instagram Stories daily, while Snapchat was estimated to have around 170 million daily users. Upon its initial launch in August 2016, Instagram Stories was accused of copying Snapchat's flagship feature: the temporary posting of photo or video content that automatically disappears after 24 hours.

Despite some controversy, usage of this feature continued to grow, supported by Instagram's already large user base. Generally, Instagram itself boasts 600 million daily active users. Currently, several other Snapchat features are also being imitated and developed by Instagram Stories. It is predicted that many users will switch to this application due to its perceived practicality.
