Average Price of the Most Expensive Internet Packages in Southeast Asia: Timor-Leste

Internet packages have become a crucial necessity for accessing the internet. The prices of internet packages on the market vary widely depending on the internet service provider.

So, which countries in Southeast Asia sell the most expensive internet packages?

Cable collected and analyzed data from 5,000 internet packages across 233 countries worldwide throughout 2022. After data collection, Cable calculated the average cost of internet packages per 1 gigabyte (GB).

Based on this research, Timor Leste has the most expensive internet packages in Southeast Asia, at US$2.15 or approximately Rp31,948 per 1GB (assuming an exchange rate of 14,859 per US dollar).

Brunei Darussalam follows in second place with an average internet package price of US$1.70 or approximately Rp25,261 per 1GB.

Myanmar ranks third with the highest average internet package price in Southeast Asia, at US$1.11 or approximately Rp16,494 per 1GB.

Meanwhile, other Southeast Asian countries such as Laos, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand have average internet package prices below US$1 per 1GB. Thailand has the cheapest, at US$0.38 or Rp5,646.

2. Brunei Darussalam - US$1.70 (approximately Rp25,261)
3. Myanmar - US$1.11 (approximately Rp16,494)
4. Laos - US$0.99 (approximately Rp14,711)
5. Singapore - US$0.61 (approximately Rp9,064)
6. Vietnam - US$0.61 (approximately Rp9,064)
7. Philippines - US$0.52 (approximately Rp7,727)
8. Indonesia - US$0.46 (approximately Rp6,835)
9. Malaysia - US$0.45 (approximately Rp6,686)
10. Cambodia - US$0.42 (approximately Rp6,241)
11. Thailand - US$0.38 (approximately Rp5,646)
