Indonesian Twitter Users Top the World: What's Their Ranking?

Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms used by people in Indonesia. According to a Statista report, there were 18.45 million users of the application founded by Jack Dorsey in Indonesia as of January 2022.

This achievement places Indonesia as the 5th largest Twitter user country in the world.

The United States (US) has the highest number of Twitter users globally, with 76.9 million users.

Japan ranks second with 58.95 million Twitter users. India and Brazil are in third and fourth place, with 23.6 million and 19.05 million Twitter users respectively.

Following Indonesia, the United Kingdom has 18.4 million Twitter users. Turkey and Saudi Arabia follow with 16.1 million and 14.1 million Twitter users respectively.

Mexico has 13.9 million Twitter users, while Thailand has 11.45 million.

Twitter is now widely used by domestic and foreign politicians to promote policies and interact with citizens and other officials. Most world leaders and ministries of foreign affairs now have official Twitter accounts.

One example is former US President Donald Trump, who was once a prolific Twitter user. However, Twitter permanently suspended Trump's account in January 2021.
