How Much Do Indonesians Spend on Internet Access Per Month?

Internet access costs have become a priority for Indonesian citizens in the digital era. This is especially true since most Indonesians now conduct many of their activities online.

A survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) shows that the majority of individual Indonesian internet spending was between Rp 50,001 and Rp 100,000 per month in 2021. This accounted for 62% of respondents.

Furthermore, 19.5% of respondents reported spending less than Rp 50,000 per month on internet access.

Another 16.4% of respondents spent between Rp 100,001 and Rp 300,000 per month, while 1.9% spent between Rp 300,001 and Rp 500,000 per month.

Finally, 0.2% of respondents spent more than Rp 500,000 per month on personal internet access.

This survey was conducted among 10,000 respondents across 34 Indonesian provinces from October 4-24, 2021. Respondents were household members aged 13-70 who had accessed the internet in the three months prior to the survey. The survey employed a multistage random sampling method with a margin of error of +/- 0.98% at a 95% confidence level.
