2018, Data Statistics Showed 50,000 GB Growth Per Second

A 2015 Vcould News study recorded daily data growth reaching 2.5 quintillion (10 to the power of 18) bytes, or approximately 28,000 gigabytes (GB) per second. This volume renders traditional systems incapable of analyzing data to extract crucial information. By 2018, this growth was projected to reach 50,000 GB per second.

This rapid growth means that an estimated 90 percent of currently available statistical data has been generated in the last two years. This Big Data era is heavily influenced by rapid technological advancements and the growth of internet users worldwide. Indonesia remains a relative newcomer in Big Data processing, as does its human resource capacity. Even the United States, a much earlier adopter of Big Data, still faces a shortage of data scientists to process information in this era.
