Top 10 Investors in Unicorn Companies

The emergence of unicorn companies presents a unique investment opportunity for investors. United States (US) investors dominate the list of investors with the highest investment amounts in unicorns, or privately held companies with a valuation exceeding US$1 billion, as of Q2 2021.

According to data from CB Insights, six US investors are among the top ten.

Tiger Global Management, a US-based firm, is the world's largest investor in unicorn companies. Tiger Global has 125 unicorns in its portfolio.

Next, Japan's SoftBank Group ranks second. SoftBank has investments in 67 unicorns in its portfolio.

Five other US investors on this list are Coatue Management, Accel, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and Insight Partners.

Meanwhile, China contributes two investors to this list: Tencent Holdings and Sequoia Capital China. Hong Kong has one investor, DST Global.
