Indonesia's Most Popular E-commerce Sites in Q4 2018

Tokopedia and Bukalapak were the e-commerce platforms with the most visitors, exceeding 100 million per month in Q4 2018. According to iPrice data, Tokopedia, an Indonesian e-commerce site, was the most popular, attracting 168 million visitors, surpassing all other e-commerce platforms.

The number of visitors to the e-commerce platform founded by William Tanuwijaya increased by 9.35% from the previous quarter and surged by 45% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Bukalapak ranked second with 116 million visitors. As is known, both startups have become unicorns with valuations exceeding US$1 billion (Rp 14 trillion).

According to Andrew, Head of Content Marketing at iPrice, two factors contributed to Tokopedia's increased popularity. First, its partnership with OVO, providing users with easier transactions. Second, Tokopedia received an additional US$1.1 billion in funding from SoftBank at the end of 2018.
