Newzoo: Metaverse Gamers Dominated by Young People

Virtual space technology innovations, particularly the metaverse, are increasingly popular among young people, especially in the gaming industry. For example, proto-metaverse games like Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite are considered more "kid-friendly" online games compared to several other popular games.

This is in line with the results of a survey conducted by Newzoo, a game and esports industry database company. The survey shows that the majority of metaverse game players are young.

The majority, or 38%, of metaverse game players are aged 10-20 years old. Another 36% are aged 21-35 years old.

This is followed by the 36-50 age group, with 22%. Only 4% of metaverse game players are aged 51-60.

Meanwhile, players of games other than metaverse are mostly aged 36-50, at 32%. The 21-35 age group follows with 31%.

Next, 22% of players of games other than metaverse are aged 51-60. And 16% of players of online games other than metaverse are aged 10-20.

This survey was conducted on 5,521 respondents in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany in 2021. The respondents were gamers who had played games for the six months prior to the survey.

The metaverse game players in this survey were those who played Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox.
