According to market research firm TrendForce, global shipments of foldable smartphones reached 15.9 million units in 2023. This represents a 25% year-on-year (YoY) increase.

Foldable phone shipments contributed approximately 1.4% to total smartphone shipments throughout 2023.

In 2023, Samsung dominated global foldable smartphone shipments with a market share of 66.4%. However, this was down from 80% in 2022.

For 2024, TrendForce predicts that foldable smartphone shipments will increase to 17.7 million units, a growth of 11% (YoY). Their contribution to global smartphone shipments is also expected to slightly increase to 1.5%.
