Nowadays, digital security has become a crucial issue, coinciding with the increasing number of cybercrimes, such as fraud, hacking, and personal data theft.

In response to this issue, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, together with the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), conducted a survey on the ability of Indonesian citizens to secure their personal data on the internet.

This survey found that the majority, or 57.9% of respondents, were able to use privacy settings to control who can see their posts on social media.

Furthermore, more than half, or 53.9% of respondents, were able to create secure internet account passwords using a combination of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks.

However, only 43.7% of respondents were able to disable the geographic location feature (GPS). The majority of other respondents needed assistance or did not understand how to disable their GPS.

Most respondents also did not understand how to protect their data from internet viruses.

Only 31.1% of respondents were able to independently use applications/software to find and remove viruses from their digital devices, and only 24.8% were able to independently distinguish spam/virus-containing emails.

The survey involved 10,000 respondents spread across 34 Indonesian provinces. Respondents were members of households aged 13-70 years who had accessed the internet in the last 3 months.
