World's Most Visited Art Museums in 2022

Global art museum visits reached 141 million in 2022, according to data from *The Art Newspaper*. While this figure is double the 2021 number, it remains lower than the pre-COVID-19 level of 230 million visits in 2019.

This international online art publication compiled data from 100 of the world's most renowned museums. The Musée du Louvre (Louvre Museum) in Paris recorded the highest number of visitors globally, with 7.7 million visits in 2022.

The Parisian museum, known for its iconic glass and steel pyramid structure, houses masterpieces such as Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa.

The Vatican Museums ranked second, attracting 5 million visitors last year. Located in Vatican City, the museums are home to some of the world's most famous Renaissance masterpieces.

The British Museum in London followed in third place, with 4 million visits in 2022.
