According to Compas research, the value of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) transactions in Indonesian e-commerce has grown by 168.7% over the past four years.

In 2022, the transaction value was only around Rp48 trillion. Then, the trend rose to reach Rp129 trillion in January-November 2025.

These figures represent the sales of FMCG products on Shopee, Lazada, Blibli, Tokopedia, and TikTok Shop in Indonesia.

"Despite the challenging global economic conditions, the domestic e-commerce market has shown strong resilience," Compas said in a press release on Wednesday (18/2/2026).

Despite this massive growth, Compas found that more than 1,900 FMCG product brands were forced to exit the market, as they were deemed unable to adapt to changing consumer behavior and platform dynamics.

According to Compas CEO Hanindia Narendrata, the ability to adapt to the unique characteristics and features of each platform is the key to brand survival.

"Brands need to understand that Shopee now serves as an efficiency hub, a platform used by consumers for quick, practical, and cost-effective routine shopping," said Narendra.

"Meanwhile, Shop Tokopedia Group (STG) has become a discovery engine, a place where consumers discover and get to know new products through shoppertainment features like live shopping and video content," he continued.
