Samsung Leads Global Foldable Smartphone Shipments in Q3 2025

According to a report by research firm Counterpoint, global foldable smartphone shipments grew 14% (year-on-year/yoy) in Q3 2025.

During this period, Samsung dominated the global foldable smartphone market with a shipment share of 64%.

Shipments from the South Korean manufacturer surged 32% (yoy), supported by the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z line in Q3 2025.

"Samsung also launched the Galaxy Z TriFold as a strategic pilot project to assert its leadership in technology, before wider commercialization in the next product cycle," Counterpoint wrote in its report on Tuesday (December 2, 2025).

Following in the rankings was Huawei with a 15% shipment share, followed by Motorola 7%, Honor 6%, Vivo 4%, and Xiaomi 2%.

Meanwhile, foldable smartphones from other brands cumulatively accounted for a 2% shipment share in Q3 2025.

Counterpoint predicts that the foldable smartphone market expansion will broaden in 2026, driven by improved device durability, lighter weight, and AI-based software experiences.

"Apple, which will enter as a new player in the second half of 2026, is expected to strengthen the premium device upgrade cycle through its massive iPhone user base across various regions," Counterpoint wrote.
