According to a report by International Data Corporation (IDC), the global smartphone shipment volume reached 322.7 million units in Q3 2025.

This achievement grew by 2.6% compared to the same quarter last year (year-on-year/yoy).

IDC Senior Research Director Nabila Popal stated that the global smartphone market continues to grow positively amidst economic uncertainty and unstable import tariff dynamics.

"Manufacturers are now adept at innovating, not just in hardware and software to encourage consumer upgrades, but also in reducing purchasing barriers," Nabila said in her report on Monday (13/10/2025).

According to her, various creative financing schemes and aggressive trade-in programs offered by manufacturers are key drivers in increasing consumer interest to switch to the latest devices.

In Q3 2025, Samsung dominated 19% of the smartphone market share, shipping 61.4 million units, a growth of 6.3% year-on-year (yoy).

This growth was driven by the sales of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, which reportedly surpassed the performance of all previous generation foldable models.

Next, Apple's smartphone shipments rose by 2.9% (yoy) to 58.6 million units.

"Demand for the iPhone 17 lineup is very high, with pre-orders even surpassing previous generations," said IDC Vice President Client Devices Francisco Jeronimo in his report.

Furthermore, shipments from Xiaomi rose by 1.8% (yoy) to 43.5 million units. This was followed by Transsion, which surged by 13.6% (yoy) to 29.2 million units, and Vivo, which grew by 6.9% to 28.8 million units.

Meanwhile, the combined shipment volume from other brands corrected by 3.2% (yoy) to 101.2 million units.
