According to Ookla, a global internet accessibility analysis firm, mobile internet speeds have increased across Indonesia in the first half of 2025.

North Sulawesi: 36.60 Mbps
West Kalimantan: 36.59 Mbps
South Kalimantan: 36.50 Mbps
Papua: 36.22 Mbps
Gorontalo: 35.59 Mbps
West Papua: 35.20 Mbps

Ookla Research Industry Analyst, Affandy Johan, explained that progress is not only limited to areas with already good performance, such as Jakarta and Bali, but also to areas with the slowest median download speeds.

For example, North Maluku recorded the lowest median download speed in the first half of 2022 at only 13.90 Mbps. In the first half of 2025, the median jumped to 20.49 Mbps.

"This even increase underlines the collaborative efforts to improve network performance throughout the archipelago," wrote Johan in his report on Tuesday (August 12, 2025).
