The Number of Internet Service Providers in Indonesia Continues to Grow Until 2024

According to a report by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), there were 1,248 internet service providers (ISPs) in Indonesia in 2024. This represents an increase of 237 companies, or 23.44%, year-on-year (YoY) compared to 1,011 companies in the previous year.

"This increase reflects the high demand for fixed internet services and the growing market opportunities for new providers, in line with the acceleration of digital transformation across various sectors," wrote the BPS in its *Indonesia Telecommunications Statistics 2024* report.

The number of ISP companies in Indonesia has been steadily growing from 2020 to 2024, reaching a record high last year.

The increase in the number of ISP companies in Indonesia is in line with the rising number of domestic internet subscribers.

The BPS recorded 11.70 million ISP subscribers in Indonesia in 2024, a 25.92% year-on-year (YoY) increase.

The majority of ISP subscribers, 90.38%, were individual customers. Businesses accounted for 7.95%, and internet cafes (warnets) for 1.67%.

"This indicates that fixed broadband internet services have now become a primary need at the household level," wrote the BPS.
