According to a survey by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), in 2025, the majority or 72.66% of the Indonesian population did not use artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Of this group, 46.56% were unaware of the technology.

Furthermore, 22.68% felt they did not need AI content, 15.50% did not know how to use AI, and 5.88% had not found appealing AI services.

Others did not use AI due to concerns about privacy and security (3.57%), found AI services difficult to use (3.51%), lacked adequate access or technology (2.09%), or for other reasons (0.21%).

On the other hand, only 27.34% of the Indonesian population used AI in 2025.

This group used AI to access educational content (43.98%), entertainment (29.52%), virtual assistants (13.48%), and AI for productivity (12.37%).

This APJII survey involved 8,700 respondents aged 13 and above, proportionally distributed across 38 Indonesian provinces. The sample was selected using multistage random sampling.

Data collection was conducted from April 10 to July 16, 2025, using face-to-face interviews, with a margin of error of approximately 1.1%.
