According to a Canalys report, smartphone shipments in Southeast Asia reached 96.7 million units in 2024. This represents an 11% year-on-year (YoY) increase.

“The Southeast Asian smartphone market rebounded strongly in 2024, exceeding global growth of 7%,” said Canalys Analyst Le Xuan Chiew in their report on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Oppo was the top-selling brand, capturing an 18% market share with 16.9 million units shipped in 2024, a 14% YoY increase. This growth, according to Canalys, was driven by Oppo's successful product strategy and investment in the premium segment. The A18 model was their best-selling phone last year.

Samsung ranked second, with smartphone shipments correcting by 9% YoY to 16.6 million units. However, growth from premium models like the Galaxy A55 and the Galaxy S series offset the decline in mid-range models such as the A1x and A2x.

"Samsung's future success will depend on its ability to convert lower-end Android users in Southeast Asia to higher-priced models," said Le Xuan Chiew.

Next is Transsion, a Chinese manufacturer encompassing Infinix, TECNO, and Itel, which shipped 15.5 million smartphones in 2024, a 41% YoY surge.

Xiaomi shipped 15.5 million smartphones to the Southeast Asian market, growing by 26% YoY. Vivo shipped 12.3 million units, up 14% YoY.

Combined shipments from other smartphone brands in Southeast Asia reached 19.9 million units, a 1% YoY decrease.

Note that Canalys's estimated Xiaomi smartphone shipments include the sub-brand POCO, and Oppo's include OnePlus.
