PT Telekomunikasi Seluler (Telkomsel) was the mobile operator with the most users in Indonesia in June 2021. A subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, it had 169.2 million subscribers in June 2021, a 5.7% increase from the same period the previous year.
Specifically, Telkomsel had 162.48 million prepaid subscribers. The remaining 6.72 million were postpaid subscribers.
PT Indosat Ooredo Hutchison Tbk was in second place with 60.3 million subscribers in the first half of 2021, a 5.3% increase compared to the first half of 2020. Of this number, 58.6 million were prepaid subscribers and 1.7 million were postpaid subscribers.
Following this was PT XL Axiata Tbk with 56.77 million subscribers in June 2021, a 1.96% increase from June 2020. The breakdown shows 55.54 million prepaid subscribers and 1.23 million postpaid subscribers.
Based on its financial performance, Telkomsel recorded a net profit of Rp 12.75 trillion in the first half of 2021. This figure grew by 0.31% from the same period the previous year, which was Rp 12.71 trillion.
Indosat achieved a net profit of Rp 5.6 trillion in the first half of this year. This is better compared to January-June 2020, which incurred a loss of Rp 341 billion.
Meanwhile, XL Axiata obtained a net profit of Rp 715.96 billion in the first half of 2021. This figure decreased by 58.94% from the first half of 2020, which was Rp 1.74 trillion.
