The music streaming platform Spotify recorded revenue growth during the pandemic. According to its Q1 2021 report, Spotify's revenue reached €2,147 million, or approximately Rp7.18 trillion (using an exchange rate of €1 = Rp17,320). This represents a 16% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to the same period in 2020.
Spotify's total revenue comprised revenue from premium subscribers, which grew by 14% YoY to €1,931 million, and advertising revenue, which grew by 46% YoY to €216 million.
Spotify's revenue increased by 9.77% from Q3 to Q4 2020. However, revenue decreased by 0.96% from Q4 2020 to Q1 2021.
During the first quarter of 2021, Spotify had a total of 356 million monthly active users (MAU). Meanwhile, the number of users who listened to ad-supported content reached 208 million.
The Swedish company stated that the largest proportion of monthly active listeners comes from Europe, at 34%. This is followed by North America at 24%, Latin America at 22%, and the rest of the world at 20%.
