Based on a survey by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), more than 70% of respondents used social media to access information on Covid-19. The majority, or 45% of respondents, considered social media to be the most effective means of disseminating Covid-19 information.

Besides social media, people also used television to access information related to the coronavirus. 20.8% of respondents considered television to be the most effective.

Furthermore, 11% of respondents considered announcements from local governments to be the most effective means of disseminating Covid-19 information. Meanwhile, 7.7% of respondents considered social media, specifically WhatsApp, to be the most effective medium.

Other effective means of disseminating Covid-19 information according to respondents include community leaders (5.1%), online media (websites) (4.1%), posters, banners, and billboards (1.9%), places of worship (1.5%), other chat applications (1.2%), newspapers (0.4%), and radio (0.3%).

The BPS survey involved 254,817 respondents aged 17 and over throughout Indonesia. The survey was conducted from February 16-25, 2022, using a non-probability snowball sampling design.
