According to data from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), during the January-October 2022 period, there were 11,626 victims of job termination (PHK) throughout Indonesia.
During this period, Banten was the province with the highest number of PHK victims, accounting for 31.85% of the total national PHK victims.
Here is a breakdown of the 10 provinces with the most PHK victims in the January-October 2022 period according to Kemnaker:
1. Banten: 3,703 people
2. DKI Jakarta: 1,655 people
3. East Java: 1,250 people
4. South Kalimantan: 943 people
5. Riau Islands: 863 people
6. Riau: 774 people
7. North Sulawesi: 558 people
8. Bangka Belitung: 369 people
9. North Kalimantan: 238 people
10. West Java: 223 people
However, this data does not reflect the entirety of PHK cases in Indonesia. This is because Kemnaker only records PHK cases reported by companies through the Manpower Service Information and Application System and/or the Industrial Relations Court.
Meanwhile, according to the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), during the January-November 2022 period, the number of workers affected by PHK throughout Indonesia reached 919,071, significantly higher than Kemnaker's data.
Apindo also stated that a wave of mass layoffs will continue into next year, particularly in the textile, footwear, and furniture industries.
"Certainly (these three industries) will conduct layoffs next year, it's not a matter of 'will' anymore," said Apindo Deputy Chairwoman Shinta Widjaja Kamdani, as reported by *Katadata*, Wednesday (21/12/2022).
